Text and Photos by Daniel "SwiftEagle" Lipkowitz PART 9: BEAST MACHINES SUPREME CHEETORWarning! All pictures are linked to high-quality scans! Expect larger load times if you click on the links. Aaaaand... Supreme Cheetor. A bit simple, very show-like, and pretty self-descriptive. The electronics weren't fully hooked up, but the sound effects (one for each mode, apparently) were simulated by use of a jury-rigged push-button sound mechanism. Only one sword, bad news for those hoping for twin-scimitar laser-blocking action. The robot jaw looks to be articulated, but was glued in place like most of the joints on the display pieces. Oh, and cheetah mode apparently has a rising-hackles gimmick. As you can see, Hasbro demonstrator Charles Langley is very enthusiastic about Supreme Cheetor.
Part 1: Fox Kids' Beast Wars Altered States Magazine would especially like to thank the kind folks at Hasbro and Benson Yee of www.bwtf.com for their help. Daniel Lipkowitz is a contributing editor of ASM and can be reached at asm_lipkowitz@skyjammer.com. He also loves penguins and his digital camera. |
