TOY FAIR 2001:
LEGO: Star Wars Sets
Story and Pictures by Daniel Lipkowitz

[Remember - every picture links to a larger size!]

With Episode II still a year away, it's going to be a slow year for Star Wars products. LEGO has a small but appealing offering, including a TIE Fighter, a beautiful Imperial Shuttle, a cute little AT-ST, a Battle Droid Carrier (non-canon, but a nice way to get a bunch of li'l LEGO Battle Droids all in one set), a Droids Escape set with minifigs of Artoo and Threepio, plus an escape pod, and a Watto's Junkyard collection with parts for two Podracers, plus a teensy little Watto to sell them to you.

From the higher-end LEGO Technic line come an Imperial Stormtrooper and Episode I C-3PO. Designed more for construction and imagination than for movie likenesses, both toys have lots of moving parts. The Stormtrooper can also fire a child-safe projectile, and Threepio's head and arms pop off when his stomach plate is struck.
